Anais Reyes
Anais Reyes (she/her) is the deputy director of the Climate Museum. She joined the Museum as a curatorial intern in 2018 after feeling called to transition from a career in contemporary art to a career in climate change. At the Climate Museum, she has had the privilege of bridging both worlds.
During her tenure at the Museum, Anais has worked across a range of projects, from curation and writing, to education and public outreach, to hiring and logistics. She is currently assisting with the design and construction of the Climate Museum’s permanent home on Manhattan’s far west side (set to open in 2030), alongside managing day-to-day operations and having oversight over the Museum’s curatorial voice and program collaborations. She is inspired by the power of museums, cultural institutions, and the arts to spark dialogues about social justice issues, to connect us to each other, and to highlight what we value and care for most. She has spoken about the Climate Museum’s work across New York City and the US including at Climate Week NYC, the Columbia University Climate School, New York University, the Guggenheim Museum, the Phipp’s Conservatory Climate Toolkit Symposium, the San José Climate Art Program, Carnegie Mellon University, the New School, on CUNY-TVs “Sustainability Matters” show, and many more. She has collaborated on public programs with LaGuardia Community College, the Fifth National Climate Assessment, the Yale Program on Climate Change Communications, the Weeksville Heritage Center, and the Cincinnati Museum of Art. She has written for RMI, the International Council of Museums, World Scientific Publishers, and others.
Before joining the Climate Museum, she worked on exhibitions and education at the American Museum of Natural History, the New Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with focuses in exhibition curation and entrepreneurship from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Postbaccalaureate Certificate in interdisciplinary climate and environmental studies from Columbia University.
