Louise Eastman
Louise Eastman is an artist working in weaving, ceramics, quilting and more. Her art explores the lyricism of the tactile and the politics of materials and craft traditionally considered trivial, or gender-bound. Selections from Eastman’s portfolio can be found on her Instagram page.
Eastman received a BA from Smith College and an MFA from Pratt Institute. She is a founding member of the Victory Garden Collective, whose works have been accessioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Department of Drawings and Prints. Her work has been exhibited at Smack Mellon, Planthouse Gallery, Silas Marder Gallery, Russell Janis Gallery, and the Arts Center at Duck Creek. She is the recipient of MacDowell Colony and Albers Foundation Fellowships. She lives and works in Sag Harbor, NY.
